TAPE DRAWINGS
2010 -ongoing , tape on black paper
different sizes

Illusory states of luminescence and motion in endless black space are subject to the TAPE DRAWINGS. The overlapping tape surfaces seem to move transparently over each other creating precise geometrical patterns. As their perfection shifts towards subtraction and deconstruction, the latest series of drawings focuses on the method of fractography.
Fractographies are investigations of cracks used in material sciences, in order to understand the causes of material failure, predominantly invisible for human eyes. The exact course of fracture remains to resist prediction.
Trompe-l’oeils or optical illusions of real cracks in glass surfaces are created by overlaying adhesive strips, drawing images of cracks with the material of its repair.
