LIMINAL PASSAGE
2018, glas, distilled water, exchangeable mouthpieces
installation dimensions variable, each object approx. 40 x 60 x 20cm

Rarely do we visualize the everyday process of breathing, in which we continuously inhale and exhale air molecules that previously passed through the bodies of others. In the installation, we can consciously experience this process and give a breath to another visitor. The breathing air is passed through the glass object, cleaned of viruses and bacteria through the water, so that the pure breathing gas can be absorbed on the opposite side via a sterile mouthpiece. In order to make the process of exchanging breath reciprocal, the positions of the respiratory donor and recipient must be swapped. The intimacy of this unfamiliar situation between strangers is enhanced by the soft flooring, which makes the stance soft and receptive.
