Respiration Essays
Contingency appears on the threshold between being and non-being. It denotes both the incalculable, which thwarts intentional actions, and the freely selectable space of possibilities and decisions. In works of art, we encounter contingency in the process of creation, in the choice of artistic strategies and techniques and in the context-dependent process of presentation and reception: could everything be completely different?
Edith Kollath pursues what can be discovered about this with her aesthetic-respiratory method, body-permeating, rhythmic and recursive. Starting from a dynamic installation, theoretical and practical perspectives of an artistic research process are intertwined in a thinking and breathing movement.
