Deployable structures — systems shifting between compact and extended states — are found in nature and human design. Leaves, for example, unfold from tiny buds with remarkable efficiency. This principle, essential for growth and adaptation, parallels contemporary cultural and economic debates on visibility, value, investment, and fatigue in postmodern, capitalist contexts.
In ANY ME, this concept is playfully explored through an enlarged paper garland, a common example of a deployable structure. Stretched across a wall, the garland is spray-painted in a rhythmic act that traces its temporary extension before being released to the floor. This process captures the tension between permanence and ephemerality, reflecting cycles of effort, release, and the transient nature underlying even the most stable systems.
